Many people have become avid collectors of anything to do with paintings, sculpture or things in this genre. Visiting art shows has become the de rigueur thing to do amongst the rich and famous as well as people who live in the vicinity. Visiting an art show will often turn up great bargains since some of the artists are new and upcoming and their works will be much more affordable at the beginning of their careers.
In the Hamptons every year is a great event that brings together artists from around the world to display some of the finest pieces available. Even sponsored booths will allow each individual artist to showcase his own work while the rest of the venue is set up much like a museum.
The great thing about bringing people together over one weekend is the absolute diversity of styles and backgrounds of all the individuals. Of course, the attendees tend to be affluent and this is great news for anyone hoping to sell their work. But the attendees also like a bargain and by seeing the work of new artists coming onto the scene, they have a chance to get in at rock bottom prices. The artist gets super exposure while the attendees will often tell other affluent people of the great artists that they have come across in the course of the weekend.
2009 was the second year that this event has taken place but already it has become so popular that the organizers had to increase the floor space by more than thirty per cent. 2010 promises to be even better so the organizers are making room to house all those who want to exhibit and attend.
One place is called the Lift which is set up to allow single exhibitors to display their works, but there are other venues on site which has all the artwork set out around the walls to make it easy to see in situ.
The event has become so popular that over three hundred thousand people swelled the ranks of this popular holiday spot last year and attendance is likely to soar in the following years. This is the reason that the venue is ever expanding to make room for old and new visitors’ alike.
Organizers of this event hail from several disciplines but the overall effect is a professionally run event which displays the best and generally unique pieces to be found almost all over the world. Anyone looking to buy something exquisite must surely find it here but with the added advantage that they may be able to get a great bargain from a novice artist at this type of event.
It is not only paintings that are on display for the entertainment of attendees here. Sculptures, work on paper, photography and wonderful glass pieces are also available for those who want to buy something unique. Celebrity spotting is also part of the deal in the Hamptons so do not forget to take a look around at the people at this event.
However, do remember that the rich and famous do not like to be bothered when they are shopping or just hanging out with family and friends. Don’t bother them with inane conversation or go autograph hunting as this would truly spoil the atmosphere of the whole place.
